GREAT FOR BUSINESS. GREAT FOR LIFE.
Pea Ridge is a city located in Benton County, Arkansas, in the United States. The name of the town comes from a combination of the original settlement's physical location, which was across the crest of an Ozark Mountains ridge, and the hog peanuts or turkey peas that had been cultivated by Native American tribes centuries before European settlement. These crops later helped to provide basic subsistence for the pioneer settlers who arrived in the area.
The town is known for its historical significance, as it was the site of a crucial American Civil War battle called the Battle of Pea Ridge or the Battle of Elkhorn Tavern. The battle took place about 5 miles (8 km) east of the town and is now preserved as the Pea Ridge National Military Park.
Pea Ridge's downtown business district is on the National Register of Historic Places and is largely composed of commercial structures from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. As of the 2020 census, the population of Pea Ridge was 6,559. The town is part of the Northwest Arkansas region, and the local weekly newspaper is the Times of Northeast Benton County.
